CD-ROM Checkout Policy

WHO MAY BORROW - Borrowers must have a valid Ouachita Parish Public Library card with no outstanding charges and must be at least 17 years old. Patrons not qualifying for a Ouachita Parish card must have a Trailblazer card, which may be obtained from their local parish library.

LOAN PERIOD AND LIMIT - There is a limit of 5 CD-ROM per adult card and they are loaned for a period of seven (7) days. Overdue fines are $.25 per day for each overdue CD-ROM Senior citizens are NOT exempt from these charges.

REQUESTING CD-ROMS - Currently, CD-ROMS are available only at the Main Branch. CD-ROMS are loaned on a first come, first served basis. Reservations or holds are not permitted. CD-ROMS must be checked out at the Main Branch and returned to the same location.

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS - The borrower is responsible for any damages to CD-ROMS checked out on their card. CD-ROMS  may be renewed one time, either by bringing the item in or by utilizing the library's automated notification and renewal system (327-1497).

COPYRIGHT CONCERNS - Each CD-ROM has a copyright warning clearly affixed to the bag.

Ouachita Parish Public Library accepts no responsibility for damage to the patron's computer equipment or software. Patrons are advised that some CD-ROM   products, during installation or use, automatically load software or alter existing software. Patrons should consider backing up their system files before using the CD. Due to the variety of system configurations, technical assistance is not provided by the library staff. Patrons should consult instructions accompanying the CD, their computer manual, or their technical support team. Some retailers and publishers provide telephone support for troubleshooting. This information is included with the  CD-ROM when it is available.
