We are happy to encourage all residents of our parish to obtain a library card. Your Ouachita Parish Public Library card allows you to enjoy the many resources of our library and is your ticket to hours of reading, listening, and viewing pleasure. With the card you have access to our online databases, pay-for-print at our print stations, downloadable eBooks, all eServices, remote access to authenticated pages on our web site and library catalog. An application for a card is available at any of the library's eight locations. Your library card can be used at any branch to check out books, recordings, framed artwork, periodicals, videos, CD's, and eServices. Children's cards (under age 17) have some check-out and download restrictions.
To get a Ouachita Parish Public Library card you must present a photo ID and a piece of U.S. mail showing your address. You must be 17 years or older to get a card without a parent/guardian signature. Your library card will be mailed to you as a verification of address. Until you get your card you may only have the two items allowed at registration.
Remember, you are responsible for any materials checked out on your card. If you forget your card and you are in good standing with the library you may use your valid Louisiana driver's license for checkout but it does not take the place of your library card. You are encouraged to use your library card as our new cards will have empowerment features such as eServices in them.
THE DUE DATE IS PRINTED ON A RECEIPT LISTING ITEMS OUT, GIVEN AT THE TIME OF CHECK OUT. Alternately you may elect to have an eReceipt texted or emailed to you, and we encourage you to go green.
Materials generally have a three week loan period (excluding audio-visual materials). Some audio-visual materials, have a shorter loan period. Be sure to check your receipt for all return dates. You can also check your account online for due dates and a list of all items checked out.

Please pay fines upon returning items. Items may be returned to any branch. You can also pay your fines with a credit card online from your account.
If you have not finished using the materials by the end of the loan period, return the materials to the library for renewals or call Telephone Messaging System, our automated telephone renewal service, at 327-1497.
